How to replace a taillight on a Jeep Wrangler

A common reason people get pulled over on the road is that their taillights are out. This is a safety hazard, and many people want to take care of it right away. Your taillight might go out because it is broken or you might just want an update to your Jeep Wrangler. Regardless, here are instructions on how to replace a taillight on a Jeep Wrangler.

Remove the top and bottom screws.

The first step when replacing a taillight on your Jeep Wrangler is to locate all the screws and remove them. The first two screws should be the ones located closest to your trunk, and the others shouldn't be removed because they're not connected to your vehicle.

Disconnect the tail light

The taillight of your Wrangler is connected to the frame with two screws on each side. Remove these two screws to take off the taillight. When you do, you might be a bit overwhelmed by all the wires that are attached to it. Simply unplug the two wires connected to the taillight and remove the entire part.

Plugin your new taillight

Once you remove the old taillight from your Jeep Wrangler, you can then install your new one. Plugin both wires where you removed the old taillight. Once this is done, attach the new taillight to your Wrangler and screw it in.

Test taillights

The final step is to test your new taillight to make sure it's still working. There are two ways you can do this: have someone stand behind your vehicle to check or place a camera there and film it as you use your brakes.
